Oops. It's amazing how things can be inter-related. Dig this...
In the new
Mother Jones Magazine the lead story is about...the environment...of course, but it's a bit more in depth. It's also about us losing species of living things by the thousands and quicker than we realize.
Now
this article isn't the best read in the world, but it is interesting. And it brought up a fascinating point...
We have wildlife preserves and other segregated environmental sanctuaries and it turns out that we really don't preserve that much when we do this because of the interdependence of life on its surroundings. By limiting the space, we really do not preserve anything. So...there's a plan that looks like it could be enacted by Canada, the US & Mexico to create a huge...uh...swatch (sic?) of territory that would allow animals & other species to migrate or do the voodoo that they do to continue. Great. Here's the catch.
Stupid, mother-fuckers in the US government building walls & fences to keep Mexicans out are screwing this up...animals can't get through! We are tools. It's really that simple...go ahead, throw your - go back to Cuba crap, but that makes you a tool, too. Even when we do the right thing, we do it wrong.

There's just too much to comment on, so I'd like to post a bunch of links for y'all to peruse...most of them are from
Crooks and Liars. You really could just go there and look through the last week or:
*Democratic candidates had a debate last night. Uh...a bit early, but whatever. Check out these clips -
Clip 1 and
Clip 2. I don't know enough about this Gravel guy, but he's definitely in the running for my new-favorite-democrat award. Who the f- is this guy and when did he declare he was running for President?
For the record...if they can put that many in a debate for the Democratic primary, then third-party candidates should be included in the debates later on. The excuse was that they weren't legitimate candidates or that you couldn't have a substantial debate with so many on stage. Well, this proves all that to be crapola. (oops, this was only supposed to be a bunch of links)
*
The Governor of Oregon tried to live on food stamps for a week. Oh...we need to make everyone in office do this.
*
Absolutely unbelievable commentary from Keith Olbermann. A must see!
*
John McCain on The Daily Show. This really shows what a tool this guy is.

I don't think there's an appropriate quote to pull from this article so before you go on with my point you should take a look at
What Price for an “Advisory” Timetable? Bar an Unauthorized Attack on Iran first.
OK, now after reading this, here is what we need to do...
We should be looking at all of our so-called representatives and the decisions they make and compare all of this with the number of people dying on a daily basis in Iraq. That is what human life is worth to them. It really is that simple. You can be Xenophobic about it and look at just American lives. You can be crass about it and look at American money, too. But it's really a simple cost analysis. So this "compromise" that talked about in the article I linked to above is more than a compromise, it's an indicator of how dispensable those people who have died and who will die are. And as we know, 99+ % of those in office have no family members in Iraq so it isn't a test of how they feel about people they love. It's a simple test on their attitude about human life.
When Democrats decide to accept their corporate leadership's "compromise" to weaken already weak legislation, they show how they feel about human life. Those who truly value it will be fighting for every single person who may die tomorrow and later. With every compromise thousands more die. (and billions of dollars wasted, if you care about that)
And before some internet parrot spews the ridiculous argument about fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here...Iraqi's did not and do not have the means to do anything to us here. Also, there are other ways of preventing terrorist attacks than pre-emptive murder. In fact, what we're doing isn't even
effective.
Solving problems without violence isn't being a wimp - it's solving problems...meathead.

My intent is that this be the only post I do on the Virginia Tech shootings and it's not really about the shootings themselves. It's about the coverage of it. NBC sucks holy ass for airing that video of the nutjob who did all this. If there was any integrity left of the mainstream press then I would weigh their argument that it was to better understand why it happened, but there is no credibility there. Therefore, they aired that video gratuitously for ratings. The sad thing is, I was stunned by who repeated NBC's crassness. First, I hear everyone on The Stephanie Miller Show rail on NBC for airing it -
as they were playing audio clips from the video! And I'm sad to say that Democracy Now did the same thing, though they reported it straight, without the judgement of SM. The weird thing is, the one person I heard who straight out refused to play any of it was Ed Schultz, whose show I really don't like at all.
The new
Stuart Bedasso Show is up. I had on my topic list, the VT shootings. I didn't want to discuss it, but I assumed the rest of the gang would. They didn't want to either. We were all of the same mind - it's everywhere being analyzed from every angle. We decided to be a
break from it.
So there...that's all I plan on saying about the whole thing.
On a semi-different note. Notice the new "cause" to the left. It appears the corporate scumbags at Time Warner are pushing the post office to increase the cost of postage for small, independent publications while giving huge conglomerates price breaks. F-ing typical. So you can do one of those e-letter things to the appropriate bureaucrats & pseudo-representatives. It only takes a second so click on over.
If you're reading this on the blog part only and not whitee.com, then here's the link:

I have both cable TV & Road Runner - and while I have to admit, I'd be a bit lost without the internet hook-up, I'm getting ready to get rid of the cable. I don't need the Food Network that much and I hate giving those bastards any more money than I have to. It's probably going to only take one more bill with nickel & dime charges that I don't recognize.

Oh, come on!Imus gets pulled off the air, but
they start up Menudo for a TV series???
This is enough to make libertarians call for government intervention.
Actually, I'd be fine if both were gone.

OK...this is my last take on Imus. What he said, the context, etc, has been dissected up the wazoo, but here's my perspective. I don't really care what he said in terms of racial issues. Well, that's not completely true, but it's not my main focus. My problem is a feminist one. What the hell is he doing commenting on them as women anyway? They're in the spotlight for playing basketball and he's commenting on their hair & tats? I make fun of racial stereotypes all the time (listen to
podcast and you'll see). But Imus' comments are more sexist than racist - to me, anyway.
I am exploring the concept that I may be a hypocrite here...if you just look at post of mine in the last month or so - I have commented on the new Liar for The War Criminal (that would be Press Secretary) being a hottie. But I still think she's evil and with each and every lie that spews out of her hole she becomes less & less hot. But if she wasn't and empirically attractive person I wouldn't come out of the gate saying that she's a pig. So, I'm working on this issue myself. We're always evolving...or at least, some of us.
A great take on the whole Imus thing can be found
here. There isn't a transcript of the video, but there is a follow-up link.
******************************************************
Wow...this is pretty telling. There are 150 graduates of Pat Robertson's pseudo-college in the current War Criminal's administration. Yeow!
See the video here. I'm not that much of a fan of Bill Mahr, but he does a good job here.

Hello? Free Speech? Hellllloooo?
OK, so CBS fired Don Imus...you can argue that Imus had the right to say those stupid things about nappy hoes. CBS also has the right to fire the dumbass. Imus was an employee - it's pretty much that simple. The thing that gets me - and I agree with
Don and Mike on this - that it's just another step towards making radio worse.
To me, that's why people should be getting their information, hell, and entertainment from the internet. I mean independent sourses online:
Democracy Now,
podcasts, etc. Yes, I know you have to be aware of where that information is coming from, but really, you have to do the same thing with mainstream info & entertainment. Let's be honest, the crap that's
supposed to be news? Anna Nicole? Imus? That's what makes up the headlines. Now, this does open up some gaps as it's more difficult to get people from lower incomes online.

I wasn't paying attention and accidently posted this thought on another blog...so let's try it again.
Hey! Get off Hitler's back for crying out loud! Alright, it's not what you think. There should be NOTHING that cannot be said. Should be said, is a different issue. But it reminds me of Marc Maron's point when he talked about the word "retard". We're adults. We know the difference between:
"That's sad - that guy's retarted."
and
"That guy's a fucking retard!"
Same with the use of Hitler. When shithead politicians and pseudo-journalists compare someone to Hitler, they need to be slapped upside the head. There is no dem or rep doing anything that relates to what Hitler did. But when someone uses Hitler
in this way.
It's sarcasm, you dumbass!" He doesn't really think he's seen as second evil to Hitler!" You get his point and you move on.
Can't make Hitler funny? Yeah, yeah, yeah...The Producers. But check out some of
Eddie Izzard's stuff. He's a freakin genius!
Other Quick Hits:
*Yeah, Dana Perino is a right-wing hottie...but she's
just as much of a dickhead as the rest of them.*Brian Williams can
bite my left one. Corporate douchebag.
*
Republicans go to Syria, it's not mentioned. Dems (and a republican) go and they're traitors. Whatever.
So, I'm actually in a decent mood. I just haven't been able to post in a while so I have to get it all out. Piece out!
