Just a tip from Uncle Whitee:
At the end of the night, if she says, "Well, I guess I'll see you on MySpace." It wasn't the best night you've ever had. Or maybe it was which sets you up for an entirely new set of issues.
I hate fucking MySpace.

All I know is,
you better not piss this cat off. He's the grim freakin reaper.

Yeah, I sucked it up. I bought a Prius. Used, but a Prius nonetheless. I probably should have went cheap and small, but I saw it, test drove it and the rest was history. I tell everyone to do what they can to stick it to the man, that's what I could do right now.
So as I said in my previous post, I just finished moving to Maui. For a job. On the way, I stopped in Portland, Oregon. Now, I'm not saying that either of these places are perfection, in fact, Maui's kinda getting me down. A ton of development happening here...it's gonna be funky down the road. But from my house I can see a big ass mountain. And what's on that mountain? A buttload of windmills. (picture is coming) And you know what? To me they look beautiful! They look like cool pieces of moving sculpture that's also producing renewable energy. There's dildo's in Western/Central New York who are bitching about proposed windmills. Shut the F-up. It should be something of pride and because it's something different you bitch. This is actually
good progress. You'll probably kiss Crap-mart's ass to build a superstore next-door to you, though.
And in Portland...first of all, Portland is a cool-ass town. If things don't work out here (which isn't going to be the case), Portland is my next stop. So, they build stuff that wins awards for it's green-ness:

This building won some kind of green building of the year award. It's not that f-ing difficult. Just decide you're going to build stuff that is solar, thermal, etc. Just do it. Most cities are so damn reactionary. It's not that hard.

Don't worry. I'm still here. I just finished a 6000 mile move and I'm currently bogarting a neighbor's wifi until Time Warner can get here in 2 weeks. Details are coming...stay tuned.

This is a bit self-centered. But I have a minute while I'm sitting here...
A couple of years before we started
the podcast I tried to get a local radio show on this city's only "progressive" radio show. I may have posted on it back in the day so I won't recap how they f-ed up that idea. I've been mostly listening to music and not talk radio, but when I do, I still listen to this station. They hired a guy to do commercials, announcements and I'm assuming work the board for the syndicated shows (because that's all they play except for Sunday mornings).
I think they got this guy from a prison release program, or a work-training program for the mentally challenged. He's unbelievably awful! Why would you put a guy on the air who sounds like this. You can't understand what he's saying! He talks too fast. Helllllloooooo! Air check much?????
Hey, I'm not asking for Paul Harvey here. Does this guy have naked pictures of the station manager? Yes, I'm bugged because they should have gone with my show, but I'm a meritocracy kinda guy. If you're good at what you do, then you should be rewarded, particularlywhenwehavetosufferhavingtolistentoyoutalk. I'm surprised a sponsor hasn't called up pissed because they paid for an ad and you can't understand what the guy is saying.
OK...I gave that more space than it was worth...I'm done now.

I...uh...huh?
I guess we should be proud of this. Something so blatently stupid and racist on public airwaves shows that we still have freedom of speech. It's also a stunning argument against freedom of speech.
This tool (with a bad haircut/dye job) contends that universal healthcare is a tool for terrorists. Who the f comes up with this? Now, I'm not doing what other nutjobs have done to me... I listened to
this guy's reasoning and I truly tried to keep an open mind, but this so obviously an attempt to go after Mike Moore, it's just...lame. Lame-O was his name-O.
On another note: MSNBC needs to get rid of
Chris Matthews and permanently install
David Shuster into Hardball. Shuster rocks!

So my last post said you should call your Congressperson. Have you? No. OK...How about this:
I accuse you, Mr. Bush, of lying this country into war.
I accuse you of fabricating in the minds of your own people, a false implied link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11.
I accuse you of firing the generals who told you that the plans for Iraq were disastrously insufficient.
I accuse you of causing in Iraq the needless deaths of 3,586 of our brothers and sons, and sisters and daughters, and friends and neighbors.
I accuse you of subverting the Constitution, not in some misguided but sincerely-motivated struggle to combat terrorists, but to stifle dissent.
I accuse you of fomenting fear among your own people, of creating the very terror you claim to have fought.
I accuse you of exploiting that unreasoning fear, the natural fear of your own people who just want to live their lives in peace, as a political tool to slander your critics and libel your opponents.
I accuse you of handing part of this Republic over to a Vice President who is without conscience, and letting him run roughshod over it.
This was taken from a commentary by Keith Olbermann on MSNBC on July 4th. I highly suggest you
click here and read it (I wouldn't dip into the comments section unless you have a strong stomach) - then call your Congressperson and tell them to start working on Articles of Impeachment against Bush and Cheney.

OK Kids...it's time to get off our collective butts. This whole Bush administration thing has gotten out of hand. You must call your Representative and tell him or her to start working on Articles of Impeachment for both Bush and Cheney. It cannot wait until they get out of office in 2009. No more waiting around...you make the call and they get it going.
http://www.house.gov. Top left corner is a place to put your zip code in to find your representative. They're on vacation so call their local office. Do it NOW.

I don't think this makes me a hypocrite because I've never run around waving a flag or doing any "USA! USA!" chant. But I've never been a patriot. I really don't give a crap about the US. I care about the people who live in this country, but I care equally about the people who live in Darfur, Munich, Lisbon & Tokyo. Countries are man-made entities predicated on war, racism, nationalism and probably Oedipal issues.
I've been hesitant to let my "humanist flag fly" because of all the brainwashed people who shout stupid things like "Go back to Cuba". But I've discovered that these idiots say that whenever you say anything that would force them to think. Then I read
Howard Zinn's article. It made me feel a little more comfortable.
Then I bumped into the Thomas Carlyle quote:
"War is a quarrel between two thieves too cowardly to fight their own battles; therefore they take boys from one village and another village, stick them in uniforms, equip them with guns, and let them loose like wild beasts against each other"You know...I've worked for a number of schools and all of them make teachers sign an oath upholding the constitution... Ha! Constitution? My standards are much higher than that!
And speaking of lowered standards...
Look, Sparky. I know it's all hip to be into fighting global warming. I'm down with that. I've
been down with that. But substituting nuclear power for fossil fuels is NOT cool. Jesus Christ on a Biscuit! That's like getting rid of guns but allowing flamethrowers. A little common sense here, huh.
