Music, culture & politics. We'll also update Whitee's recording progress.
You know...I never really liked Keith Olbermann as a sportscaster. He's pretty much God now.
I've been bitching & moaning about Democrats for a while now. And I pretty much gave up on Republicans a long time ago. But in
this special commentary by Lord Olbermann he says it...what needs to be said.
You can also get more details about how really pathetic the democrats are by reading:

progressives
...tell me why the Democrats are so great. Huh? Come on! If you're not embarrassed, at least I'm embarrassed for you.
I just finished reading the new book / memoir from Bob Newhart -
I Shouldn't Even Be Doing This. He mentioned a story in it that just kicked my ass. Some chick decided to publish her correspondences with Winston Churchill. Some guy heard about this and decided to publish his correspondences with George Bernard Shaw. The great thing about it is the guy started writing Shaw accusing him of stealing his umbrella at the theater and asking for it back. Shaw kept writing the guy back saying that he has no idea who the guy is and that he doesn't have his umbrella. I'm reading this book at the hospital (don't ask) and I'm crying - I'm laughing so freakin hard. I would love to mess with someone like that but the only way you can get so someone famous now is e-mail/myspace...that's not as funny as taking the time to write a letter. And these days, "famous" people don't respond anyway...or they get a restraining order. Still, that's funny as hell.
This is beyond ridiculous. It's time for this mofo to be impeached. That's right...The War Criminal...
your President. I don't care if he's evil or stupid, he just needs to go..then be brought to trial, but first thing's first.
You can read about sending Gonzalez & Card to John Ashcroft's hospital bed to circumvent the Constitution in a number of places. Try
Crooks and Liars for the Daily Show clips or
Democracy Now for more straightforward coverage.
And he is on record as refusing to answer any questions about this incident. He needs to be put on trial. There's only one way to do that - get the House of Representatives off their collective asses. That starts with the Judiciary Committee. Here is how you tell them:
Go to:
http://judiciary.house.gov/contact.aspx, type in your contact info and let it rip. Be polite, but be honest. Give a little background info as to why you feel Bush must be impeached, but not a novel. Yes, it's an uphill battle...there's not a huge democratic majority, blah, blah, blah. But this is what you do when this crap goes on. Here is the note I sent:
As Chair of the Committee on the Judiciary I am writing you to express my concern over the recent news of the President's trashing of the Constitution. My particular focus is that of the warrentless surveillance program. This is just one of many impeachable offenses this President has committed and I implore you to begin impeachment proceedings immediately. Thank you.
You don't have to direct it directly to Conyers. In fact, after I sent mine, I realized I probably shouldn't have. But it's no big deal either way...just send them the message. Enough of Dems patting themselves on the back for having hearings - they don't do anything about the outcome anyway (see Gonzalez). We have to tell them what to do...contact the House Judiciary Committee NOW and tell them to start impeachment proceedings. Go! Now!

OK...Jerry Falwell died. He had to eventually. We all do. And as I type I'm listening to an Air America DJ talk about all the nasty-ass shit JF did. (she just used the word "buttboy". Can you do that?) In my opinion, it's warranted. JF sucked.
But the only thing that goes through my head is...IF there's a god...one who judges you when you die...you know the story. Man, I'd like to see THAT conversation.
I hope dude shit himself when he went. Yeah, it's that catch 22...I'm intolerant of intolerance and I hate those who hate.

Now, THIS is what I'm talking about.I mean, we get screwed by our politicians. We may as well get blown too. I have to admit, it left me speechless. But I did sign up
Stuart Bedasso for it.
I tried to post this last night but for whatever reason it didn't stick so let's try again...
I know some folks who are in this political organization. It's a fairly progressive group. They pride themselves on grassroots organizing. It is a local chapter of a national group. They are unofficially supporting (though by next year it will be official) a candidate for a federal office. To get a groundswell of support...grassroots support...the candidate's staff has instructed this group how to sign up, log in and vote daily for the candidate's diary on DailyKos.
It's not dirty or illegal. But it's not really all that "grassroots". I'm just saying. Pick, pick, pick.
So, I have a lot to post on so I guess I'll just give you some quick links:
