I know I rarely do sports posts here, but tell me what's wrong with this quote from Rotoworld.com:
Dana Eveland took a loss for Mexicali in the MPL after giving up three runs -- one earned -- in five innings on Saturday.
Relieving him in the contest was Fernando Valenzuela, who allowed one run in 1 1/3 innings in his season debut. Eveland struck out five and walked none in his first start after a couple of relief appearances. A strong winter would put him in a better posititon to compete for a spot on next year's Diamondbacks staff as either a fifth starter or a middle reliever.
I'm sorry. Did you say Fernando Freakin Valenzuela? Fernando was a rookie in...oh, I don't know....1982ish...and he was 47 years old then. What, is he 150 now? Makes me yearn for Raquel Welch.
I understand how fads come and go. Hell, this isn't even a fad. Some idiot decides that something is passe' and it goes "out of style". At some point it was decided that Barry White was cliche...that it meant that you were trying to get a little something and that you had no imagination. But damn it, somethings should defy this plebian thinking. It's Barry Freakin White. Panties should just melt at the sound. I'm just sayin.
I know, I know. You're already sick of the Presidential election crap. Me too. But don't forget, there ARE elections in 2007. Yes, they're local, but they are important. In fact, in terms of long-term planning, they're even more important. Why?
Because if there will ever...EVER be change it will come from a third party. Yes, I know there isn't a third party candidate who can win a presidential election now, or probably any federal election. But they HAVE been winning local elections all over the country. And that is how third parties will have more influence - from the bottom, up.
SO...did you know that there are 127 greens running for office in the 2007 elections? Yep. And it's not too late to help them. Here is a list of the 9 Greens around the country who have the best shot at winning their races. It doesn't matter where you live - you're helping create change. Check some of them out and throw them a few bucks! Your money can help pay for that last TV ad or radio blitz.
You can have Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. (Well, I'd like to have Wonder Woman, but I digress) My superheroes are back! It's The Yes Men!. I think I talked about these cats before. They set up fake websites, pretending to be corporate scumbags. And other corporate scumbags invite them to make presentations at conferences and they come up with the most messed up presentations. Well, this time they did it, promoting Vivoleum - making oil out of the billions of people who will die because of global warming. Here's the link.
Speaking of incredulous....
"In any country, if you don't have countervailing institutions, the power of any one president is problematic for democratic development."
Who said that? Uh, Condoleezza Rice. Hello? Pot, this is Kettle. YOU'RE BLACK!!!!
Here's the entire story. The criminals in our government are worried about the criminals in Russia's government. Whatever. Crooks with money worried about other crooks with money.
La, la, la, la, laaaaaa...Another day, another Democratic cave in. But no, don't go third party. That would be folly. Because our only hope is the Democratic party. Right?
