Cautious Fuzz

Notes: So, here we are at the start. I guess I should begin by saying that not everything in Cautious Fuzz is entirely my own invention ... I borrowed here and there (with permission if I could track the people down, and with apologies if I couldn't). For example, "Uncle Dog" is really my friend (and Cautious Fuzz co-creator) Steve Lorenz. No, REALLY. That was his nickname at the time (to this day he's still called simply "Dog"). He's also half of "PG Comics" ... if he'd been any more involved with the guts of the comic I probably would have given the by-line to "PG Stevens" ... but that's a much longer story. Let me just tell you that both "PG"s stand for "Puke Green" and leave the rest to your imagination.
Another borrowed character is the guy on the lower left, Rob Adler. He came from something a guy in my old dorm used to do whenever he got overly rambunctious (either naturally or with chemical stimulants). He'd jump out into the hall, roll like James Bond at the wrong end of a shooting gallery, and come up firing a finger pistol shouting, "Boom! Boom! Boom! Rob Adler, spy!" This was going to be a joke in issue #2 of Cautious Fuzz (which I started laying out but never got around to producing).
As to the piece itself, I've never really been much good at "covers." I'm not skilled enough at composition to make the overall piece work. This comes close, with the right (front cover) being "on stage" and the left (back cover) being "backstage." The large villainous figure works okay, but it's hard to tell you're not supposed to interpret him as being literally that big ... and what the hell is that sand bag doing floating there for no reason? I'll TELL you why it's there, because the composition wasn't working so I just threw something in there for the visual weight. *sigh* I guess THAT'S as good a reason as any why I didn't make it in comics!
