Cautious Fuzz

PreviousNext

Notes: This page isn't QUITE as good as the previous one, but I still feel I was on a pretty good roll. The concentric circles in the background of panel #1 give the right "Twilight Zone" feeling. I centered them on the gun rather than one of the characters for two reasons. First because although Adler is speaking, the gun is the main motivator in this instance. And second, because if you shift your focus just slightly the pattern has a faint resemblance to the old lightbulb over the head image ... which is fitting because Dían is having his epiphone in this panel ... he knows how he's going to get out of this with his aligator skin intact.
In panel #2 the broken border is once again quite purposeful ... Dían is inviting the both Adler and the reader into his plan. Oh, and I had a long, hard chuckle over the phrase "luggage wish" at the time. For the record, I don't think it's quite so clever anymore ... but I've had 15 years for the joke to wear thin.
Panel #3 is pretty wordy again, but it's necessary so that panel #4 can be so wide open (which is important to show a contrast between that and how the club's exterior looked on page 13). Oh, and did you notice that the border of panel #4 is actually a doorframe with an open door going off the page to the left? I think that image might be too subtle on the page ... if I had it to do over again I might shrink the size of the main panel in order to emphasize the door.
