Cautious Fuzz

PreviousNext

Notes: I'm not sure why I had Phred's elbow pop out over the edge in panel #1 ... it really doesn't serve any purpose, and thereby really does serve to weaken the impact of all the other places I used that trick for a reason. *sigh* All things in moderation.
The rest of the page I like very much. From the sharp, spikey background elements in panel #2 through more tones-as-layers in panel #3 and 5, and more interesting uses of borderless images in panels 4 & 5, I think I DID use all these tricks VERY purposely. And for that reason they seem very effective to me. Plus, I like a page that ends in a punchline.
"Antarian cricket beast," was the pet name my roommates and I had for the bizarre insects that crawled around the plumbing in a basement apartment we rented during my final year at university. They appeared anywhere there was water, and since all the water pipes seemed to sweat all year round, that meant they were EVERYWHERE. Although they LOOKED like they were biting bugs (with large, ugly pincers on their tails) no one in the apartment ever was stung.
Oh ... and for those of you keeping track of the "cameo appearances," panel #3 has Bob Burden's Flaming Carrot, Charles Schultz's Snoopy, and a nearly unrecognizable mouse made popular by Mr. Disney.
