Cautious Fuzz

Notes: Ahhh... action at last! This is actually a pretty good example of how I think of my comics as movies. The first long panel was, in my mind, a sweeping shot where the camera stayed in front of the Omnivorous Interplanetary building (you'll see why in a minute) and tracked from one radio to another—first the car radio, then the boom box ... if I'd had more room there would have been an alien jogger with a walkman. The visual completely separated from the text ... you 'd have no idea who was talking until you cut (to what is panel #2).
Speaking of which, yes, that's my homage to Gary Trudeau (the host is Mark Slackmeyer, Doonesbury's "radio guy" and the alien engineer is supposed to be a riff on Zonker Harris).
When I look at Droxine I sound like my sister does when she looks at her old high school photos. "What was I thinking with that hair?" It's kinda 80s ... kinda androgenous ... kinda funky ... but it really does nothing to express her character. And I was SHOCKED at how many people thought it was supposed to be a "mullet" and that Droxine was a guy! I'm sure if I drew her as a busty full-blonde reaction would have been better ... but that's not who the character is.
