The title of this post is: DFA - Setting Feminism Back 30 Years.

One paragraph of background/commentary before I get to the story. DFA stands for Democracy for America. It used to stand for Dean for America, but when he crashed & burned in the last Dem presidential primary it became the former. So a lot of semi-creepy "Deaniacs" decided to keep getting together and try to help other progressive candidates. Most were/are Democrats. There's a local chapter here. They continued to talk about helping any progressive candidate, but when they went through the 2 dems having a primary for city school board last year and me and I blew the other two out of the water...they decided to endorse nobody. So I've figured they were pretty full of baloney. Although this year they've come up with a different system. They have the "endorsed" candidates, who are their own inner circle whom they'll actually work for, and they have their "approved" candidates who just go on a list on their website. Pretty ingenious.

So this is apperently how "progressive" these cats are. There is one of their inner core who is running in a town election. To get the local DFA endorsement she had to go to some meeting/interview/whatever. The problem is she was a little busy. No, there wasn't something good on cable that night...no, it wasn't her bowling night. She was a little busy resting from having a freakin baby two days earlier. Well, I guess the DFA folks just assumed she'd already be back out working in the fields or something because they wouldn't give her an extention. It seems when other candidates found out that the so-called leaders were going to give this chick and extension they all wanted one, too...even though they hadn't just had a freakin baby! The so-called leaders caved in when they should have told the other wankers to sit down and shut up. See where I'm going on this?

Dems are supposed to be the bleeding hearts...the ones who want to expand day care, provide health care - at least for kids, parental leave...all that crap. And they show it by this? Niiiiice. Hey, maybe she shouldn't be allowed to run for office at all...we should chain her to a stove or something. I mean, damn, she's lucky we allow her gender to vote at all. Damn, women don't know their place.

That's local...now let me get to something national...yesterday's Democracy Now had some tool named Sidney Blumenthal, a Clinton advisor. Holy crap...this guy said that the Democrats have absolutely no responsiblity for the war at all because they're not in power. The fact that the nutjobs have control over all three branches means the Dems have to roll over everytime. I wish Barbara Boxer would kick this guy's ass. So the Dems had no obligation to vote against the war 2+ years ago, to vote against the Patriot Act, to not vote to increase funding for the war, to vote for the No Child Left Untested Act and on and on. Damn, these jokers keep getting more & more ridiculous. This fool's argument is about 2/3rds of the way down the page. The Democratic Party sucks ass. I don't mean anything by it, I'm just saying the Democratic Party sucks ass.

On a totally unrelated note...I ate catfish for the first time today. Tasted like plain old cat. Nasty old cat, with mange...and worms...and hairballs. Man, my mouth feels like I've been out licking garbage cans. "That's nasty, baby...you nasty."
