I'm semi-hesitant to post this, but first of all, it's too funny, second, he called my statement "dumb", and third, it's a beautiful lesson for us all.

If you haven't seen it yet, some guy posted a comment to my last post on the hypocracy of the Catholic Church lecturing Islam (according to Time Magazine).

Now, like anyone who expresses his/her opinion, before you decide if you agree or not you should see what other nuggets of wisdom this person has espewed. I relate this to anyone in the mainstream media as well as a random blogger. That's what I did. I will give this Nelson guy credit - he didn't post annonymously. That's cool. But I did follow the link to his site and read a bit (which is what bloggers do).

Now, his comment on this site left out a bit of what he posted on his own. He includes:
The Church's primary mission on Earth is not to help the poor and it would be demeaning to the Church to think so. It helps fascilitate charity because that's one of the Lord's commandments, but its primary mission is to guide its flock to Heaven by representing God's law on Earth.I'm always astonished that only people who hate the Church advise it to sell its Churches or to not build any more. Doesn't he imagine that poor people may like going to beautiful Churches? And if it did sell its things and give them to the poor, what would it do the next week? I also wonder why he doesn't advise big donors to the Democrat party to give away its possessions and help Africa? Or, and he might be kind of wierded out by this idea, for him to sell his stuff and help the poor.

As in my comment to his comment - the Church is a man-made institution, the bible a work of fiction. If you're telling me that huge, ornate churches is what guides it's flock to heaven, then...OK, I'll just say it - your relgion stinks, in my humble opinion.

The second issue has to do with the Church's role in history and its efforts to alleviate suffering and violence, elevate the status of women and children, or diminish terror. Well, he should compare the level of violence in the world before the Church was born and after its period of greatest influence in the world, the status of women and children before the Church, and the level of terror outside of its sway. Even the Church at its worst does not compare to radical Islam today. To compare the modern Catholic Church and Radical Islam is delusional.

Sparky, this is soooo out of context to what I said. First, I was addressing the specific article in Time. It is YOU who insinuated that all Islam is "radical" with your statement. And it's convenient to brush off the Catholic Church's sexism, elitism and violence that exists even today. I do not support ANY person or institution that supports violence & bias. That's why I'm neither a Catholic or Muslim. My point of the original post was Let him who is without sin cast the first stone. Sound familiar?

Oh, and onto the funny part - if go to homie's site and look at the post right before his post about me...Dude got sick from making tea out of those "Do Not Eat" packets you get with shoes, computer parts, etc. I guess if this post is a joke then I'm pretty gullible, but...I don't know...you be the judge. If this is actually true, hello, Darwin Awards?
