I just finished reading the new book / memoir from Bob Newhart -
I Shouldn't Even Be Doing This. He mentioned a story in it that just kicked my ass. Some chick decided to publish her correspondences with Winston Churchill. Some guy heard about this and decided to publish his correspondences with George Bernard Shaw. The great thing about it is the guy started writing Shaw accusing him of stealing his umbrella at the theater and asking for it back. Shaw kept writing the guy back saying that he has no idea who the guy is and that he doesn't have his umbrella. I'm reading this book at the hospital (don't ask) and I'm crying - I'm laughing so freakin hard. I would love to mess with someone like that but the only way you can get so someone famous now is e-mail/myspace...that's not as funny as taking the time to write a letter. And these days, "famous" people don't respond anyway...or they get a restraining order. Still, that's funny as hell.
