Mini-update 4.1.03: Fixed those broken links. What a difference a capital letter makes. Also, this just in: Warren's hard at work on a story featuring good ol' Zolar. It's still in progress, but as soon as I get the greenlight from the big W it'll be up here. It's lookin' good!
It's 2003 and The Big Easy is, against all odds, still alive and feelin' jazz!
It's in need of a new coat of paint, though. My old copy of Adobe Pagemill finally crapped out on me, meaning I'm going to have to actually learn some HTML to keep the site updated. That's ok though, it's sort of fun going through here and doing all the basic coding everyone else on the internet has known by heart for years now.
In any case, here's something neat: a totally redesigned gallery, now with ::gasp:: thumbnails! Yes, for the first time in this site's almost 3 years of existence, our gallery is now actually logical and user-friendly. Also redesigned the Miscellany section for easier usage.
And to celebrate, we've got a bunch of new art! I've colored those old "wounded" pictures of Torill and Zolar, and I've got a bitchin' anime-styled Kit. My Photoshop coloring skillz have been improving of late; note this one has SHADOWS and DEFINITION. Oooh. I feel like a fanartist.
Also of note, for easier reading I've html-coded Bad Death, fixing another lasting stupid of our site design.
We've got some cool things in the works beyond this, too! We've been promised some character submissions from a cool crew in Scotland who know the fun of a great ass-kickin' Star Wars campaign. And I swear I'll get that story done sometime. No, really.
That's all for now, folks. With luck, and the kind of support we've seen in the past few months, it like we'll be in business for a while yet. Clear skies to ya'll, and thanks for your support!

Mini-update 9.2.02: Hey, for once I kept a promise! There's new art in the gallery. Or not really new, more like recycled. I finally got around to coloring some old black & whites of Torill, Zolar and Tu'ebb. Finally applied my growing colorization skills to the original characters, and damn but I'm happy with them. Tu'ebb turned out especially well.
New piece of artwork for the gallery; this one's of Kit and I'm really proud of it. First new piece of color artwork in a while. We recently got a new scanner, and I've gone through all my old sketches to look for scan-worthy ones; expect some more artwork soon.
Also did some stats updating. We've made the Sentinel a weapon someone would actually WANT to use, as well as changed Kit's class to soldier (um, noone noticed, right?). As for the other characters, well, here's a shiny piece of tin foil.
Did I mention I started a new story? It's tenatively titled "The Miseducation of Kit Hendyker" and it's a sequel to Bad Death. So yeah, expect that sometime next bloody year.
Heading back to college next week. D&D, lots of anime, LAN gaming, fun happy times for all! I am having very good time! We might even play some Star Wars. That'd be a trip.

Whoa. It looks like we got the most hits in this site's existence in the past two months. You love us, you really do! Or at least you're still here. I guess we'll take what we can get.
Nevertheless, we've still been basically lazy asses. That and we haven't played Star Wars in a good long time, at least not as the Rameseum Crew. That may change soon; Michael finally got a webcam and now that Warren and us are only an hour apart there might be Star Warsing in our future.
In any case, we actually have updates! I changed my profile to better reflect current situations (finally changed that butt-ugly picture), and added a permanent link to The Bad Death of Saalia Hendyker in the Miscellany section.
We've received two great new pieces of gift art; one of Guraquay by Brodgers and one of Hobbes by Hisham. Both of these are courtesy of the superlative Star Wars Artist's Guild; thanks guys! Added some other miscellaneous art as well. The Gallery has been reorganized, now all the gift art is in its own section, and some obnoxiously large or small pictures have been resized.
So... REVISED core rulebook, eh? Bugger all. Oh well, it's not like our stats were very accurate in the first place... we'll probably get around to revising that stuff soon. I'm singling out the Sentinel for a MAJOR revision, now that I've recognized its horrible cool:suck ratio.
And remember, if you need to contact us, Michael is Moff Neomen on the Holonet, email theocracity@hotmail.com.
Dunno when the next update will be, but we'll keep you all posted.

Happy New Year and all that jazz. It's time for an update! Surprised, are we? It's been too long...Christmas Break was a time for vegging and doing nothing, so not much work was done. Almost no work on the New Easy Order done too, for the same reasons. But the next session should be soon (this weekend), so expect something around March on that :P. But seriously, on to the good stuff.
UPDATE: The Bad Death of Saalia Hendyker is now up and about. The Gamemeister commands you to read, and enjoy it. He then commands you to go get a Coke for him...he's freaking thirsty. Oh, I also forgot to mention...check out some of the submissions at submissions.swrpgnetwork.com. Some of them might seem strangely familiar, as if it's an old dream...but you can't quite remember....
P.S.: It's March, and we still haven't gotten around to that other session. Prophet, I am.
Dammit, I got so many good ideas for this upcoming campaign. Stupid college, slowing things down.
Peace.

Hey ho. It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, Kit's profile is finally up, along with an imho excellent picture of her. Stats on all the characters are just about finished, but I haven't the time to write them up for the page yet; college life is a bit... shall we say... hard on the whole "gobs of spare time to devote to page" thing. You'll be seeing them- and an Ido writeup, and all that- soon.
Oh, the story? Well, you see...

The page is up. Not much there yet, and Kit and Ido's writeups still missing (as well as stats), but you get the idea. Soon to come: profiles on Zolar, Torill and the M4 since we last saw our heroes.
Also, I believe we've uploaded stats for the Alhabi, the batlike race from which Vicious was spawned. Checkit.

Good morning all. Miss me?
Well, not much new to report at the moment, except I'm working on a preliminary page for our new email campaign. So far, all it will have is the premise, the first adventure journal detailing our trial-run first adventure, and Warren's writeups for the M4 and Zolar during the interim period and his characters, Graeme and Boaz. I'm still working on Kit, Ido and Torill's writeups, and we're each meeting online with Michael to discuss stats sometime soon. Once we get all that done, we can get things swingin' old school...
So, when will we see that story I'm allegedly writing? Um.... Soon. Things are moving slowly, but they ARE moving... only a few more scenes need to fall into place. Now, this is a much more serious sort of story than is usual of the Big Easy... there are a lot of reasons for that, mostly because I really wanted to explore Torill's character and how he becomes what he becomes. Y'know, after playing Torill for five years, he kind of took on a life of his own, one I couldn't always understand or explain to myself. I think this story moves toward helping me figure out what makes Mr. Hendyker tick... that's why it's taking so long, and why it's so much more dramatic than what we're used to.
Oh hell. Here's a preview.

Hi all! This is the first time I have actually written something on the news nets page. I feel that I am part of this campaign, but not one of you has ever heard of me. Actually, most of you probably never even read this, but I figured I would give it a whirl. Basically, I need to update my profile on the page, I will get to that in the next 6 months, I promise. Reason two, we are all keeping together through email. See, I happen to be learning at the University of Saint Andrews in Scotlandyea that small country that occupies the same island as England(those wankers J). Between the 6000 miles to Sean and the 7000 miles to Mike, I have managed to keep in touch with them, hell I even send them videos I make here (GET YOUR MIND OUTTA THE GUTTER!). Right now we are preparing for an email/IM campaign. might not have as many cool moments as the original Big Easy, but make no mistake, we will have some fun. I have a few ideas too! Also, because I have a lot of free time being the jet setter (flying back and forth between the states and here) I have done a few write-ups that are currently going through the staging process for the site. Keep your eye out.
Cheers, Warren

Like I said, college makes it hard. However, Warren, Sean and I are thinking of starting up a new email-style campaign; we'll keep you posted on the results of that. May create a new section for it. Not much new material this time, just letting you know what's goin on.
Here's hoping next update will be more productive, and sooner.
Peace.

I wanted to update some stuff, but it didn't seem enough when not combined with the former update. You probly didn't notice anyway. Here we go:
I'm at college, so updates may become infrequent, depending on my schedule. However, I like T1s. Now I can update the whole page in seconds. Me like. I'll keep you posted.

More of the good stuff. Updates might be sparing for a while as I get settled in at college. Therefore, I'll try to binge on stuff before I lose my chance...
I think I've covered about everything here.

Well, Sean's gone off to college now, so for now it's me (Michael) doin the updates. Don't panic, I'm not that bad. Sean may drop in a bit, but it'll be harder to coordinate, so it's probly goin to be me the most often. Wait a minute, you don't care...you care what we got updated! Well, I'd like to THINK that you care....
There, that wasn't so hard now was it? Talk to y'all later...I've got work and college to worry about soon, so another update might be dicey for a while. Once again, we'll see.

Well, we're back from vacation with an update from the 'hood. Or the beach, whatever. Some of you may have noticed the new URL. If you haven't, our new address is http://www.bigeasy.vze.com. We got sick of waiting for www.thebigeasy.net to come back online. We used ShortURL, which is a great free redirect service that I'd like to thank my girlfriend Danielle for recommending. ^_^ (Plug: check out her site...)
In any case. On to the update; I've little time to waste on you Rebel riff-raff.
Sean (that's me) will be heading off to college within the week, so updates may be a bit more difficult... we'll keep you posted on that.
I honestly can't think of anything else to say.

A minor update this time. Fixed a lot of grammar, spelling, stuff you'd probably notice when it's wrong but won't now that it's right. Changed some fairly major issues regarding campaign continuity too, but you probably won't notice those either unless you're some kind of freak (hint: Saalia's future and Savan's motives). In addition, we've done a large (and necessary) rules revision to the expeditor prestige class, and clarified the stats on the Sentinel V. We work invisibly, nyeh!!
Oh, don't worry, there's content too. Know your enemies (or possibly friends) with the comprehensive expeditor list, and modify your characters with some cool new feats. Schwing.
Damn, we have a lot in the pipe. NPC profiles, stuff on the Sisar Run, a tribute to Zolar... I don't know how we're going to get it all out, really. Well, at least it's better than languishing in webpage hell...

Ooh, spunky! Another update, and so soon!
A small editorial: from the beginning, we've wanted to be a sort of sourcebook, for our campaign at first and now for Black Sun. Having recently seen some mind-blowing examples of what a REAL online campaign sourcebook can be (Elrood Sector and the Moon Swing Chronicles, among others, come to mind), we've got a sort of inferiority complex running. What does that mean for you? More stuff, for one thing. We've got to make it all up somehow, and we figure that by writing a lot of cool stuff we'd be at least that much closer to the state of perfection embodied by these sites. Check back a few times, will ya? We might be doing better.
To see what we're talking about, check out some of these sites. And while we're at this whole "linking" business, go here and here and here.

Another update. Ok, so we're done then. The Big Easy ended with a bang, and a big one. Eensy problem, in that we haven't completed the all-important Interesting Moments section, but you can wait, right? Read up on it here.
What to say now? Well, I don't really feel like blubbering on for hours in the newspost... so here's some new content instead!
I wanted to have more than this up for this update, but what the hell.

Dateline: 5.17.2001 - Sean
Yay, new content! We've begun the miscellany section in earnest this time. From the old page, we've brought back the official Big Easy timeline, revised d6 and d20 stats for ghols, and the complete history of Black Sun. As for new stuff, though: stats for the Expeditor prestige class, the Sentinel V Heavy Blaster Pistol in the guns section (in d20 stats, mind you), and descriptions and stats for the Moonshine and BM3 in the ships section.
Ok kiddos, grab your beers and sit down, it's time for a rant. From now on, we're posting all our new stats in d20 format, and we'll slowly be converting all our old d6 stats to d20 (and you can go sit in the corner, anyone who said "what d6 stats?"). Why? We don't use d20 ourselves. In fact, it'd be a stretch to say we even use d6 don't even say it you as is. Sure, we use 6-sided dice, and we roll them, but...
Truth is, we want this to be a resource. For everyone. A lot of new people who didn't play d6 SWRPG will be coming of age soon, out searching the net for stats and other stuff. We want to accomodate them. Plus, I at least know the next Star Wars game I play will probably be d20. It's the future people. We might as well get along with it.
Still, Torill at least and the others probably will likely be staying in d6. Frankly, the d20 system is pretty terrible when it comes to converting existing characters, especially highly advanced ones like the Rameseum Crew. New characters? No problem. Old characters? Well... That's why I've created Kit Hendyker (don't worry, you'll hear more later) in d20.
Now that that's over with, I've got the bad news. The Big Easy is ending. Yeah, we know. Life is just cutting down its cruel scythe on our group. By mid-June, Michael and I will be out of Florida. In the fall, we all split and go to different colleges, different parts of the world. It's a damn shame, really; the campaign was just getting good. We'll all miss each other, but don't you worry, we'll keep in touch. But the Big Easy as we know it can't exist hundreds of miles apart. We're playing the final adventure as I write this; by the time it's posted it will probably be all over.
Don't worry, you! The page will remain operational. We've still got too much to do here than to just crap out because of life. We've yet to decide where the page will be headed after everything Big Easy-related is posted. Stuff will happen though, and we won't give out on it. We'll keep you posted.
Finally, in a sad note, we've had another canine death in the Big Easy family. Cinders, Sean and Michael's dog of 13 years, died last week of liver cancer. She was the sweetest, nicest dog in the world, who got along with everyone and was a regular companion in our roleplaying sessions. It was tough letting her go, but we were able to say our goodbyes. We'll all miss her.
Ja ne.

Most of the NPCs should be up now, as well as the ships. We've added to the Adventure Journal too. Sorry, we're slow around here. Also, tell us if the fonts aren't wonky, eh? Our independent research suggests that our computer is the only one in the world that reads this font size at a reasonable, readable height.
In any case, the site is almost fleshed out now. We'll get to the miscellany, et al when we're done with all the important stuff.
Note Bene! We've opened up a Cafe Press store, and are now selling the official Black Sun coffee mug. Show your friends, neighbors, coworkers and other people who don't care where your real allegiance lies: with an evil, galaxy-spanning criminal organization (but with a heart of gold). You can buy mousepads too, but I wouldn't recommend it.
UPDATE: On a serious note here, folks. We'd like to give a moment of silence for T-Bone, Warren's favorite Jack Russel Terrier. T-Bone passed away recently after swallowing a God Damned, Fucking poisonous toad. Let's all have a moment of silence for the lil' guy. He was a good dog, and the world will be a quieter and sadder place without him.

Oh, God. We're back online, are we? What's this, we finally got around to it, eh? Got off our lazy asses, did we? Mmh, mmh.
Yes, The Big Easy is now moved, rewritten, antisepticated, slathered with yummy goodness and lightly toasted for that maximum satisfaction. Not everything has been redone yet (cf. pictures no worky), so there's pieces down, but (thoughtful me) you should still get a better idea of what's where than before, thanks to the blurbs. Basically, my design philosophy followed two main principles: a) clear the dead wood that made the page so hard to update and easier to read, and b) make it less time-specific to our campaign. Hope you guys don't mind the change too much; email us with comments.
So where are we, then?
1) Sorry folks if the Adventure Journal is a bit behind, but it looks nice now, don't it? We've now got Backstory segments to help you keep track of the overriding storyline... we've even gone in retrospect and fleshed out events that didn't even have a connection before. So go back and read it. Wonder where we are? Well, as a teaser, I'll say that Zolar's moffdom didn't last too long, so we're pretty much on the lam. Oh, you'll see.
2) Total rewrites for... well, just about everything. Characters, guns, the whole shebang. But that should be obvious, we've been gone long enough, neh?
3) We get our jollies from the oddest things. Turns out what we got our hands on a recent reprinting of the (pretty crappy) comic Shadows of the Empire: Evolution. Besides terrible action, terrible dialogue, plot holes large enough to drive an Action VI through, the completely superfluous appearance of the Heroes of Yavin and what Danielle described as a "ghetto booty" Guri, there is one big redeeming factor to this waste of paper pulp and ink: a Vigo meeting, including several great pictures of Sprax. Eyebrows and all, folks. We'll grab some scans, so you can see him in all his eyebrowed glory.
On that note, we also got Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand, the second of the three known comics that feature Black Sun. Besides being infinitely superior to Evo(heylookGuri'sgotboobs)lution, it tells the story of possibly the coolest Imperial that ever wore uniform, and no, it's NOT Mara Jade. Maybe we'll throw up a review/comparison/et-ceterah for ya'll.
