Pharaoh Thutmose III observed fiery disks. (1)
This report is believed to be a modern hoax derived from the story of the Old Testament prophet Ezekiel (7)
Greek philosopher, logician and scientist Aristotle (a student of Plato and tutor to Alexander the Great) whose references to heavenly disks have been interpreted by some UFOlogist as an indication that he witnessed objects similar to modern UFOs.

This picture of George Sutton of St. Paris, Ohio, taken near mid-day (as may be seen from the shadows on the ground) shows a vintage automobile with a 1932 license plate on the front bumper. Nobody has been able to account for the dark object seen over Sutton's left shoulder in this photograph.
Report by 'Andrea' an Italian secet service agent:
It was a metallic disc, polished and reflecting light, with a diameter of ten to twelve metres. Two fighter from a nearby base took off, but were unable to reach it....It didn't emit sound, which would lead one to consider an aerostat. But nobody knows balloons that can fly faster than wind. I know for sure that is was seen by the aviators... Then, after approximately at least an hour and after passing over, Mestre, it was seen as a sort of metallic tube, grey or slate.
A sketch by a confidential informant was redrawn by Andrea, who explained that:
[The main object] was described like a kind of aerial torpedom with very clear windows...and alternating white and red lights. [The two other objects] were two 'hats', hats like those used by priests: wide, round, with a dome in the centre, metallic and following the torpedo without changing their relative positions...
Daniel Leger saw a craft with a greyish aluminium hue, like two plates joined together, seperated by a middle section consisting of two rings with a black line between them. The craft was estimated to be about six meters in diameter and two meters in height. Several square portholes with rounded edges were spaced on the upper section. No insignia, seams, weldings or connections were apparent on the upper part, which seemed to be made in one piece. Female piltot, slightly slanted, Asian like eyes. Guttural speech.
Note: Peenemunde was 130 miles west of Gdynia, where the Germans developed the V-1 flying bomb, the V-2 rocket and other weapons under the direction of Wernher von Braun. Daniel Leger assumed it was a German experimental craft.
British author Nick Redfern states, British Military records reveal that a fleet of flying discs -- called 'Foo Fighters' -- were launched from huge cigar-shaped Mothercraft during B-17 daylight raids over Germany in 1943. The huge aircraft-carrier sized Mothership cut through a flight of B-17 bombers launching its discs in front of the B-17 amazed aircrews.

E.L. (initials), serving as Carpenter Mate, 1st Class, Hqt. Co. 112th Construction Battalion, came across a landed saucer near a wooded ridge, near the beach of Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii. Description: 50 ft. diam.; metallic; looked like an igloo; topped with a clear glass dome about a foot high with a gold colored weather vane-like device spinning inside.
Bill Steele, frequently observed V-1s (Vergeltungswaffen - retaliation weapons) being attacked by Royal Air Force (RAF) fighters, Observer Corps firing rocket signals to alert pilots, was operating an excavator at Fairlight Quarry near Hastings, Sussex. On two occasions he saw curious discs. The impression was of hub-caps, though a little larger, circling the V-1 and running alongside with ease. No effect on the V-1s, curious melodious whistle-like noise heard.

A Lancaster bomber crew of eight saw what they described as a huge disc-shaped object with a row of lights that dwarfed their aircraft many times over. Upon landing, the crew officially reported what they had seen and were told not to talk to anyone about it and not to record the information in their log books. In a time before the era of flying saucers and UFOs and at a time of war, this case stands as a landmark sighting.
After the Liberation, [Daniel] Leger got a job at an American Army Air Forces unit, where some USAAF gunners told him that during several missions they were accompanied by luminous disc-shaped objects - nicknamed 'foo-fighters' - which they assumed were German or Russian in origin.

Eight discoid objects , each estimated to be the size of a house, allegedly were seen flying over Spokane in eastern Washington State. One witness said the objects dropped from the sky in the soon familiar "falling leaf" motion and fell to Earth along the Saint Joe River in Idaho. This sighting was reported threee days before pilot Kenneth Arnold's famous sighting of UFOs near nearby Mount Rainier, and three days before the widely publicized "Maury Island incident," which reportedly occured near Tacoma, Washington, and now is seen as a hoax.
"They seemed longer than wide. Their thickness was about 1/20 of their width."
Kenneth Arnold's famous sighting over Mount Rainer Washington, in 1947 started the Modern Era in UFOlogy. The publicity generated by the sighting encouraged hundreds of people to report their own UFO sightings and set the stage for widespread public interest, controversy and government involvement. Arnold's decription of ...like saucers skipping over the water led newspaper headline writers to coin the term "flying saucer." (7)
Kenneth Arnold. the Boise, Idaho, businessman who made the report, said the objects moved like saucers skipping across a pond, not that the were saucer-shaped. (11)
Bill Bequette, a Washington State newspaper reporter, invented the term flying saucers. He wrote, they reported flat, circular objects that look like flying saucers sound like they should look like. (11)
Arnold described what he saw as being "flat like a pie pan", "shaped like saucers and were so thin I could barely see them… ", "half-moon shaped, oval in front and convex in the rear. … they looked like a big flat disk" (see Arnold's drawing at right), and flew "like a saucer would if you skipped it across the water". (One of the objects, however, he would describe later as crescent-shaped, as shown in illustration at left.) (Wikipedia)
Kenneth Arnold's report set off a veritable celestial chain reaction. And within a few days, the fabulous "flying saucers" had spun into the national spotlight. Observers reported sighting flying "chromium hub caps," flying "dimes," flying "tear drops," flying "gas lights," "ice cream cones," and flying "pie plates."

Reports came from Wisconsin, the first of which involved a 'saucer' that travelled at a speed of 6,000 miles per hour, according to a flying instructor and student pilot who had just taken off from Eikhorn.
A series of disc sightings, beginning at 9:30 A.M. and ending at 4 P.M., erupted over the base. The sightings made a particular impression on the Air Force, according to Edward. J. Ruppelt, who would head one of its subsequent UFO projects.
R.L. Johannis allegedly saw a discoid UFO on the ground with two small humanoids, about three feet tall or less, beside it. The humanoids reportedly wore blue coveralls with red belts and collars and had large heads with big dark eyes...

R5D four-engine transport Navy aircraft pilot and crew observe a translucent or metallic, saucer shaped craft, purple-red fiery ring around the perimeter and a frosted white glow around the entire object. The purple-red glow around the perimeter was the same type of glow you get around the commutator of an auto-generator when you observe it at night. Interigated and investigated by US Air Force intelligence officers.
Discoid UFO estimated to be approximately 30 feet in diameter and 10 feet thick. The object was well-defined and had a blue-green color with a similarly colored glow surrounding it.
The southwestern portion of the United States is noted as a focal point for such alleged close encounters with UFOs. Reports of such encounters were especially numerous and well-publicized during the 1950s. (7)
In November 1954, CIA had entered into the world of high technology with its U-2 overhead reconnaissance project. Working with Lockheed's Advanced Development facility in Burbank, California, known as the Skunk Works, and Kelly Johnson, an eminent aeronautical engineer, the Agency by August 1955 was testing a high-altitude experimental aircraft--the U-2. It could fly at 60,000 feet; in the mid-1950s, most commercial airliners flew between 10,000 feet and 20,000 feet. Consequently, once the U-2 started test flights, commercial pilots and air traffic controllers began reporting a large increase in UFO sightings.
An eminent British scientist, R. V. Jones, headed a standing committee created in June 1951 on flying saucers. Jones' and his committee's conclusions on UFOs were similar to those of Agency officials: the sightings were not enemy aircraft but misrepresentations of natural phenomena. The British noted, however, that during a recent air show RAF pilots and senior military officials had observed a "perfect flying saucer." Given the press response, according to the officer, Jones was having a most difficult time trying to correct public opinion regarding UFOs. The public was convinced they were real.
The five pictures were taken by press photographer Ed Keffel, while in the company of reporter Joao Martins (according to their statements).
Four employees of the DuPont Company, employed at the Savannah River Plant saw eight "disc-shaped" objects approach the Ellenton, South Carolina plant. The AEC in Washington was advised.
Wilbert Smith confirmed that a number of fragments from UFOs had been recovered and analysed by his research group, including one that had been shot from a disc near Washington in July 1952. Smith, who held a top-secret clearance and liaised with his American counterparts at the time, was informed that the disc, which was about 2 feet in diameter, as glowing.

Adding to the concern was a flying saucer sighting by US Senator Richard Russell and his party while traveling on a train in the USSR in October 1955. After extensive interviews of Russell and his group, however, CIA officials concluded that Russell's sighting did not support the theory that the Soviets had developed saucerlike or unconventional aircraft. Herbert Scoville, Jr., the Assistant Director of OSI, wrote that the objects observed probably were normal jet aircraft in a steep climb.

Paul Trent photo.
Flying to intercept a mysterious radar reflection, an unknown French Air Force pilot photographed this craft in March 1954 (1957?) over Rouen with his gun-sight camera. The UFO paced the plane for several minutes before speeding off past the maximum velocity of the French airplane. This UFO appears to be of the same type that appeared in McMinnville, Oregon over the farm of Mr. Paul Trent.
|The Air Force had a plan to outfit a squadron of planes with gun cameras and the station them around the country with orders to scramble when there was a UFO sighting in the vicinity. A pilot assigned to participate in these intercepts claimed they were successful on a number of occasions, providing close-up views of UFOs (contrary to Edward J. Ruppelt of Project Blue Book claims that a plan to outfit a squadron of planes with gun cameras was never implemented because it was too expensive). The pilot had seen three domed discs in a tight formation outrunning the latest fighters, Gun camera film from a number of intercepts were made, but the pilots had no opportunity to see them and none of them knew what happened to the films after they were removed from the aircraft. This UFO was photographed in 1963 by the co-pilot of an AVENSA Airlines DC-4 between Barcelona and Maiquetia in Venezuela. A propeller spinner can be seen in the right foreground, and a highway divides the trees. Fernando de Calvet, a professional topographer and geometrican, demonstrated mathematically that all of the objects in the photograph bear exact relation with each other. A disc-shaped, domed object was revealed hanging in mid-air in front of them. It had six brightly lit windows and was some 30 feet (9 meters) wide; metallic in appearance, it had a number of sections that were joined together with rivets and seams. The dome was also metallic, but it was darker and had no rivets. The object was rocking gently to and fro. Suddenly a multicoloured band began to rotate inside the windows and a witish mist thickened around the object, wich emitted a faint hum. The witnesses became aware of a sulphurous smell.
As the band inside the craft rotated faster and faster, they watched while the disc gradually became enveloped in a white mist until all could be seen was an orange-coloured cloud.

Large disk with silvery-gray dome, about fifty feet in diameter and five feet high. Near the top of the dome were four small windows which emitted a yellow light. The area below the windows glowed with a bluish light. The outer ring between the blue light and the rim was rotating counterclockwise, casting off a halo of light that changed from orange to white with an overall tinge of blue and green. The rim itself was bright orange and did not rotate. An indentation was visible on one side of the UFO.

They were so bright you couldn’t see when you got up there.
A salesman (Warren Smith) and two companions, one a 16 y/o boy. Someone spotted a disc-shaped object moving through the air above the tall evergreens. The salesman readied his camera and snapped photographs of the UFO.
The object was described as being “shiny, and approximately 25-feet in diameter.” It had a “silvery hone to it.” One particularly interesting assertion that was made by the RAF was that the UFO object in the photograph “had a toroidal shape. Only the blurred image (plate 62) is pitched up towards the observers, and a light shone not quite centered in the dark disk can be interpreted as a highlight, as opposed to a central hole.”
UFO photographed by Gabriel Kozora at New Castle, Pennsylvania, USA, on 28th June 1967 while he was photographing his young son. He said the object was about 60 feet long and it hovered overhead for about 15 seconds before heading northwest. Another source says it flew over from south to north. The witness was quoted as saying he was all shook up, wanted no publicity, and believed that the government was responsible for objects.

It was flying high above the trees, and above the lower scattered puffy white cloud level, but well below a higher cirrus layer of thin clouds. The brushed-silver disc had a smooth unbroken lower surface and a three-tiered dome. The lower part of the dome had a red-orange color, with a light yellow colored part above that which was topped by a reddish-gold knob at the uppermost level. No seams, joints, ports or projections of any kind marred the unbroken finish of the shiny craft.

Time not given. A 13-year-old boy working at a kennel in Williston, Florida heard a humming noise, and noticed that the dogs were attempting to hide in their pens and whining. As he went out to investigate the area turned red with illumination, and a bright red disc-shaped object hovered only 20 feet over his head. He felt heat coming from the object. When he returned to the dog pens, the dogs barked at him and would not let him inside. (Sources: Robert Gribble, International UFO Reporter, May 1984, p. 16; MUFON UFO Journal, May 1984, p. 11).

A large disc-shaped UFO followed a Piper airplane from Cordoba to Resistensia, Argentina. It reportedly maneuvered at great speed, and changed color from silver to orange. The plane's compass oscillated between 0.5 and 270 degrees, and there were several other variations noted in other onboard instruments. (Source: Dominique Weinstein, Aircraft UFO Encounters, p. 51).
It was a huge silver or light gray disc! Not a shiny silver, but more like a flat silver-gray color. Just a plain underside! It was hovering below the lowest level clouds! The huge disc, which was sort-of oblate spheroid shape. I could see the entire disc bottom, and the angle was tilted to a degree, with the far side in the down position.
On many occasions, huge flying triangles, as well as flying saucers, have also been seen over the base.

This picture was originally taken in 1993 outside Meridian, Idaho. Moving at incredible speed, around as fast as military fighter jet; it slowed once to a hover (during which moment I snapped the photo) then jumped back into high speed and flew upward and into the distance.
Raul Dominguez. It was a machine that I believe was about 25 meters in diameter. The lower half revolved. I didn't notice any noise until it was very close to me. I heard it when it was 10 to 12 meteres above my head and I heard a sound like bees buzzing. I felt my hair brisling and my close moved as well as my hair.

I made the picture full size and what it looks like is something with a dark bottom, a silver dome on top with the sunlight reflecting off of it the same angle that the sun was hitting us. Photo taken using a 3.5 mega pixel digital camera.
On close examination there appears to be a silver or metallic disc shaped object in the middle of the photo. Now the reason I believe that this object is either silver or metallic as there appears to be an area on the object off which the sun appears to be reflecting. Photo taken from a Sony Cybershot digital camera.

Photograph was taken on May 14, 2008. Photographer was taking snaps of storm clouds over Eastland County, Texas. She noticed nothing out of the ordinary in the skies as she took her photograph. However, when uploading the images to her computer, she noticed a photograph with some blurry objects, and as she continued, saw another photograph with a very clear capture of a disc-shaped object, which appeared just above a line of trees.
From witness illustration.
Witness was awaken early at 1:30 AM by pet dog barking at something out side the a bed room window. Witness looked out window and saw a disk about 80 feet away hovering over a close-by artificial pond. The object was approximately 30 feet above the pond approximately 80 feet from the witness home. The pond is approximately 230 by 45 feet. There are several fruit and small maple trees between the witness home and the pond. The disk was observed through and just above the trees as shown in the graphic. The disk was approximately 30 feet in diameter and 15 feet thick. The sighting lasted approximately 5 minutes until the object just disappeared. This sighting occurred between thunder storms on this evening with a storm previously passing through about two hours previously. The sky was broken clouds with between cloud lighting occurring. There was no wind during the sighting event. The lighting flashes in the sky lit up the disk when they occurred. Red rectangular lights on the bottom portion of the craft rotated from right to left and reflected off the pond surface. The bottom of craft appeared to be a metallic blue with a shimmer to it. Water in the pond below the craft appeared to ripple. The dome on the craft was unlit.
