Sometime in April 2002, after the release of The Fellowship of the Ring, Tolkienites living at The White Council message board decided they were tired of just drooling over Legolas and wanted to go actually catch an elf. Our small hunt has expanded to (currently) seven hunting threads totaling more than 2500 pages, three offgame discussions, and many side topics. The Elf Hunt has been advertised on The One Ring.net and new members join almost daily.

The Elf Hunt is a role playing game. Each hunter plays herself and usually has a target elf or five that they try to track down in Middle-earth. There is one rule: no rules allowed. We do offer a warning though: Be careful, this is addicting. (I'm serious- I'm making a webpage for it on this beautiful June day instead of going out and having a social life.)

Since this page was created, the veteran hunters, who began the hunt and who are the stars of FotVSD, have written themselves out of the current hunt at TWC and handed the reins over to a new generation. We would like this new generation of elf hunters to know that we love you very much and to please continue what we have started.
