OK...I spank others therefore I must spank my own. And I'm not talking about sex...though I could be...
I guess I have to revise my unsolicited voting advice...
This is the strategy used by 2004 Green Party Presidential candidate, David Cobb:
If you're in a decidedly Democratic state, vote Green...vote for Cynthia McKinney for President. If you're in a red or "purple" state, you better go for Obama. It pains me to say that, especially after what I heard in the small piece of the debate I heard tonight. But as mediocre as Obama is...McCain is bat-shit crazy. He was an idiot before he was a POW, but now he's just fucking nuts. Literally. The fact that he will go down on any rich person in a 500 mile radius (hello Cindy...hello corporations) is just a tip of the iceberg. Oh...with global warming we don't have icebergs anymore. Nevermind.
Look...these are not competing goals...get the Green Party 5% of the vote and make sure McCain isn't in office. Progress to a higher level of thought and process this.
Yeah, it's been a while...I was busy losing an election. Sorry.
So, what's up with this $700 Billion, eh?
I could throw a bunch of links here to show you what a bunch of garbage this it, but let me put it in a way that I haven't quite heard yet:
Hey, if you have $700 Billion laying around - or are willing to further morgage our asses to China - then let those corporations drown and spend that money on things that will create jobs on what we need...renewable energy, universal health care and infrastructure. If you take that money and spend it to create jobs...not incentives, but pull a modern-day FDR. Government jobs that address what we need, people will be able to make sure they won't lose their homes.
Oh, and before you start yelling about "socialism" riddle me this, Batman...
How come the only time we experience true economic growth is when the government gets involved? Because the free market theory is a hoax, that's why. Go ahead...prove me wrong. PROVE me wrong...not throw 70's high school text book propaganda at me. Show me the money!
You're going to even contemplate giving these bastards a cent and you won't fund peoples' basic, human needs???
You should be in jail. In the hardest prison there is.
Give me half that money and watch what I can do with it.
I got into a brief conversation with a dude the other day about politics...well, more like the media's coverage of politics. He didn't totally defend Fox, he acknowledged their bias, but then branded CNN biased for the other "side". I really have to disagree. Other than Jack Cafferty, they've pretty much beaten the war drum along with Fox. If you're going to make the argument, it would have to be MSNBC, but they still have tools like Joe Scarborough.
In the discourse of all that is political, partisan hacks will get cornered by flawed logic then claim you're being partisan when you trap them. My girlfriends at the mall still say, "what-ever".
With that obtuse introduction, watch the video or read the transcript to the latest Special Comment by Keith Olbermann. Listen to the logic of what he's saying and call him "partisan". Has Obama made the claims McCain has? No. If he did then I would expect responsible media to call him on it, just as Olbermann does here.
I just can't believe this. I keep praising The Daily Show, but you have to look at what they're doing. I mean this is absolutely unbelievable. This is the work "real" reporters should be doing.
I know there's editing, but what these Daily Show reporters did to these clueless Republicans is just stupendous. Every anti-choice person needs to see this.
And I'm scared, because I'd like to have a beer with Mike Huckabee. I'd probably kick him in the nads afterwards, but he'd be fun to hang with for a while. Amen.
I know that I bash Democrats here more than Republicans - mainly because I expect more from Democrats. That's a condescending statement, but it's true. If you're a trickle-down economic idiot, then I don't expect a lot from you. Truthfully, that's an over-simplification of my thought process here, but I'm not in the mood to elaborate.
But I have to admit, I am truly stunned by the outright lies coming out of the RNC. Look, this isn't spin. There's actual footage. While this is sad, the truth is the truth. Watch The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. They're not just doing humorous little skits, they're doing what the corporate media should be doing - taking what politicians are saying and showing the footage of the same people saying the exact opposite a year or so ago. You can watch the episodes a day late at hulu.com if you don't record them. It is sad, but they are the true news leaders. And they're fucking comedians! And no one's embarrassed!
Democracy Now is truthful, but they don't call out Dems enough...so I don't consider them to be the leaders.
The absolute best part of the RNC...and even Stewart & Colbert didn't pounce on it, was Laura Bush claiming that McCain is the one who will bring on change...FROM YOU AND YOUR WAR CRIMINAL HUSBAND, YOU DUMB FUCK!!!
OK...believe it or not, I'm actually going to be mature about this. I get why the Republicans picked Palin as their VP. She's so f-ing backward in her values that she's going to appeal to the nutjobs who think McCain is actually too progressive. This chick is nuts. She's the Alaskan Governor and she wants more drilling there. She believes in teaching creationism in science class. She's so anti-choice and, apparently, anti-sex ed, that her teenage daughter is knocked-up and is going to marry the baby daddy. Uh...that went great for my folks.
They're going to lose more potential voters than their going to hold onto by playing to their base. With this pick, the only people they're going to get is their base, and that's not how you win elections.
Palin's starting to make Dana Parino sexy again.
OK. Maybe I'm not that mature.
Oh...and I'm starting to hear stuff about Amy Goodman being arrested at the start of the Republican Convention. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but the current mayor of my hometown used to be the police chief. And when hundreds of people were protesting the Iraq invasion (for my hometown, that's a buttload of people), he made sure that the police were there, but looked out for our safety. And nothing happened. When you show force against people executing their right of free speech...you're a fucking facist! And you create more discontent. Dumbasses...listen to Gandhi. If you keep ignoring them, they go away. That's what's threatening the Green Party right now...they continue to be ignored.
