Okay, 2-1
EVIL, $29 left, as we enter Grand Central Station. My New York Post
kindly gave us the subway route to take to get to the parade, but we
needed to find the subway in order to take advantage of it. We
exited Grand Central, and I, as the only one of us to ever go to New York
City before (for four hours), was appointed eternal navigator. We'll
turn left, I said, and turn left we did. At the end of the block, we
turned left again, and lo and behold, there was the right subway station!
After a $1.50 fare, we had evened the score with evil and my
balance stood at 27.50. Halftime.
Arriving at our stop, we wandered down Broadway. It was 7:05 AM.
A scattering of fans had already lined up along the makeshift crowd
control barriers. We stopped near the corner of Liberty and
Broadway, fifty feet from a large camera bank and directly across from a
large McDonald's. And we waited.
And waited.
And waited, in the bitter cold.
And after all that waiting, it was still only 7:30 AM.
This part of the story lacks in excitement, so I'll just tell you the
highlights, most of which involve toilet paper, and all of which came
after 9:30. But I think I'll do that next time.
