Journey to Jersey II
Part Three.  Danger.  Sadness.  Triumph.  And Jesus.

(Why is Jesus in the subject field?  To get by my uncle's spam filter.)

IN WHICH We Are Shocked and Stunned, and Also Baffled, As Well As Bewildered, AND We Are Left At A Crossroads of Decision.

Our Residence Life meetings are held every Monday night, and they are one of the highlights of my week.  Jason's lovely wife, Lauren, often makes tasty baked goods for us to eat during our meetings, and we sit around and discuss the events of the dorm, laughing ourselves into a giddy stupor while we gorge ourselves on fresh cookies and brownies.

It was during the ebb and flow of conversation that week that I figured I would remind Jason one more time of our trip.  "Still going this Friday to the game, right?"

He looked at me, and didn't react at all the way Josh had.  "Oh, by the way, Steve, I forgot.  I was looking at the manual and it said that either the RD or the RDA has to be in the dorm at all times."

And that was all he said.  I was confused.  Sergio, the RA next to me, said, "Oh man, would you look at him (meaning me)?  His heart is just breaking right there."

But it wasn't!  I was confused!  Then I remembered - Aaron Harrison, the RDA, was going to London that weekend to visit his girlfriend, who's studying there.  "So you won't be able to go then?,"  I asked, completely stunned.  He had been so enthusiastic.

"Well, I have to double-check with Denise (the Director of Residence Life).  I had forgotten that this was the weekend Aaron was leaving."

We certainly weren't going to ask Aaron to abandon his trip to London.  Out of the question.  And the only other option would be to have one of the other RA's cover for Jason, preferably one with experience.  But most of them had planned to go to Job's house in Vermont this weekend.  This was awful, awful, awful news, and I sought solace in the fresh chocolate chip cookies, as I pondered how I could possibly get to New Jersey.
