Journey to Jersey II
Part Fifteen (of 15). The End Has Come.  And Jesus.

(Why is Jesus in the subject field?  To get by my uncle's spam filter.)

IN WHICH I, Following My Tradition Of Annoyingly Anticlimactic Endings, Use The Final Entry In This Series As A Very Brief Wrap-Up Of Our Trip, AND You Wonder Why You Waited Eight Days For Me To Send It.

We went to bed at about 6:30 in the morning, all of us in Mike's guest room.  I had the bed, and I think the other two took sleeping bags on the floor.  We all chose to sleep in there because we knew Mike's lovely wife Jill would be getting up far earlier than we would, and we didn't want to be taking up the couch.  Also, we'd probably sleep better in a room with a door.

It was 2 PM when Mike finally knocked on the door to wake us up.  That 7 1/2 hours of sleep felt really good, but not yet good enough.  We all took showers, had a little something to eat, and then regretfully bid adieu to the Jordans at about 3:45.  Jason and Josh, as I may have said earlier (months and months earlier), both had commitments on Saturday night or Sunday, and needed to get back.

The trip home was uneventful, except for a few minor points.  I did not consult the directions once, proving to myself that I was now capable of getting to their house or back without relying on such an obvious crutch.  Now watch, they'll move before I visit again.  We ate dinner at McDonald's, and got back to Houghton at about 10, which was excellent time, especially with a stop.  I kept getting really tired in the car and falling asleep, which led to quite a problem later that night, when I wasn't tired again until about 4 in the morning.  So the next day I slept until 3:10 in the afternoon.  Just plain unhealthy.

So there it is.  I managed to fit about 28 1/2 hours of actual action (not counting the prologue) into 15 emails over a whopping 84-day period of time.  And the worst part about it is that I don't remember most of what I wrote.  So I'm going to have to go back and reread them all.  Anyway, I hope you enjoyed hearing about all this at least a little bit, and I do apologize for the length and delay.  Please email me with any comments.  After a while, my goal shifted from "finish the series" to "finish the series in less than three months."  And Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I have accomplished that right now.
