All Things Fall Into Place, Just

Pages of an Excellent Book, or the Crust on a Pizza Hut Pizza, AND the
Final Plans Become Official.
It was
then, in our darkest hour, after Josh had doubted his ability to take a
'huge' test, and Jason had told me he may not be able to come - only then
did Mike Vreeland re-enter the picture.
For surely you recall - he was the other who had shown interest in the
ticket, the other who had the chance to come along, and were it not for
the quickness of Josh in snapping up the other ticket, he may yet have
been anticipating the trip.
But no, it is not what you think.
It was not to take the place of Jason or Josh that Mike was speaking, but
rather to save us all. And he did it with a cookie in his mouth.
"Hey, Jason," he mumbled through a mouthful, for he was (and is)
the RA most likely to eat more cookies than his rightful share, "I'm
going to be here all weekend."
"So you're not going to Vermont with Job?"
"No, I have too much work to do. I'll be here all week."
As we went around the circle, it turned out that hardly anyone was going
with Job - all had found some excuse or reason not to go.
(Eventually, it turned out that the trip itself was cancelled.) But
Mike - out of all the RA's - was the only one to have experience in
Residence Life before this year, and thus, the most likely to pass the
scrutiny of Denise when weighing whether to leave the dorm without an RD
or RDA.
Jason agreed that Mike being in charge of the dorm would be fine with him,
and that he would ask Denise the next morning, and would tell me soon
afterward. I had no doubt that her decision would be approval.
And indeed it was.
I saw Josh a little later on that week in the Academic Building and
pointed him toward the office of his teacher. "I was just
planning on going there myself," he said.
"Well, there's a map up here of everyone's office," I said,
pointing to the large map, which is placed strategically on each
floor. "You don't have to look around on every floor.
See, here he is. Dr. Tyson. Room 309." (That's a
guess, by the way - I no longer remember Dr. Tyson's room number.
Don't go to Room 309 to check my figures.)
"Oh."
The next time I saw him, he informed me that he would be taking the test
Friday morning at 9 or 9:30, and though it would undoubtedly be a very
hard test and he would have to study more than he had ever studied before
to pass it, he would be able to leave once it was finished at about 11.
Very pleased by these outcomes, I placed a return call to Mike Jordan,
informing him that of course everything was going according to plan, there
was no need to worry, I knew the way to his house, and we would be leaving
at about 11 AM on Friday morning.
I don't even remember if I ever told him all this.
If not, well, now he knows.
