The Tangent At Hand

.......... This is the part where I pretend that you are in the room with me and I'm just talking out loud. Free flow thought. Rambling. Ranting. Tangenting on my own tangents. Y'know, stuff. I may update this page as seldom as several days at a time, or twenty times a night depending on how wired or bored I am at work. You get the really good quality tangents when I'm hyped up on supercaff. In fact, I think I'll go get some right now. That'll force the creative juices for sure!
.......... Beware! The author of this page does not condone the use of conservative thought, antidisestablishmentarian ideals, Marxist economics, or anything Ford makes. Read the following drivel at your own risk of understanding me.

In case you are unaware, you absolutely must destroy Kazaa and get Kazaa Lite instead. I've grokked all over the web for it (it's hard to find and for good reason) but have found a copy for offsite downloading. I have a copy on my own computer and as soon as I get my server set back up again, I'll make it available for you all as well. For now, go here: http://tinyurl.com/2m9yu

OMG! Oh, I'm so inspired. First off... Allow me to provide the background information needed for the idea I have. Let's assume that I am looking for a gift idea. Also assume that I want it to be "special". Also assume that I am a freak. Ok, you knew that one already. On a side note, I'm amazed that the vast majority of the people who hit this page in the last month were searching for 'toyego' instead of something vulgar and unusual (ie: fun) like 'alien donkey dick transplant commandos'. Back to the gift! I found a place online (build-a-bear.com) that will allow you to custom build your own stuffed gift. At first it seems harmless because all you can get are various animals, and they aren't even anatomically correct. The fun began when I noticed that you could get voice chips added with various noises or pre-recorded sayings. One such option allows you to record several of your very own custom expressions. Oh my! So the question becomes... What animal best says:
"Look ma, no pants!"
"Oh yeah, touch it again!"
"I like the porn."
...and other such obsceneties? I'm thinking... Turtle?

Camping. Yep. Camping. No, really! CAMPING!!! Dammit, I've not had a chance to go haunt the woods in something like a year now. How depressing. I've been aching for it. Aches like burning. Speaking of burning... Isn't that really the best part about camping? I mean, c'mon... What could possibly be better than curling up in a sleeping bag that is nice and toasty warm with only your face exposed to the chill air? You lay there watching your breath contrails in the crisp night by fire or moonlight. Woodland smells and sounds drifting in and out as you frolic in the woods. A can of Chef Boy R Dee cooking by the fire. Twigs and leaves in your hair whether you like it or not. They always seem to get there, don't they? Doesn't that sound great? What can be more fun that doesn't involve genitalia? I was invited to go camping with Bass and the friends but had to work this past weekend. Grrr... I'll have to change my schedule again to revive my decaying social life.

Tonight when I get off of work, I'm going to Memphis with Adrienne to spend christmas with her family. Many of them I know and feel comfortable around. Strange. I almost never feel comfortable around family. Even my own most of the time. Probably because I don't need to worry about whether or not they like me. I've earned that privelige several times over. Mmmm... I'm going to eat so much bbq. It's the best!

Holy crap!!! God bless German engineering. SELF COOLING KEG! I love being German. =_) Good beer, inventive kegs, strange pr0n... What's not to love?

Um... Christmas. Yeah. If I'm lucky, I won't have to spend this one alone. So alone... Just like Thanksgiving. At least I have a cool kitten. His name is Dink. I don't know if I've mentioned getting him or not. He likes sleeping curled up next to or on me. When I'm not around, he likes sleeping in the most bizzare places. He'd make the Chinchilla proud. He's on crack too. If you saw him, you'd understand. I got him some catnip but I'm scared to use it. Scared. He like to try and use the computer for me. Especially when I'm playing Rainbow Six. He'll keep jumping out of my lap onto the keyboard trying to reach the rest of my team. I guess there's just something about 4 assault weapon weilding black body armor wearing mofos running around blowing up baddies that attracts him. I have to hand it to the game. I can really get into it. Several times a night when I play it, someone jumps out from his hiding place and blasts me one. It startles me so much I jump and wake up Dink who is often sleeping in my lap as I play. It's great to have a game that is able to startle me. Especially when I'm wearing earphones. Walking along and hearing someone jump out behind me with a blazing shotgun screaming "ALARM! BLAMBLAMBLAM!" gets me every time. Well, almost every time. Sometimes it's a sniper who blasts me out of the blue from some unknown location. WTF??? Where did that come from? I click over to the next guy (or girl) in the stack and sometimes get wasted by the same tango that got my 1. How infuriating. Sometimes I'll tab through 1-4 scanning wildly trying to figure out where the fuck that bastard is. Not bad for a bot. =D Lucky for me, the rest of my team is pretty spankin' good. As I grind my teeth for being so unobservant I am frequently rewarded by hearing my 2 or 3 rip off a burst. "Tango down!" Good. Time to reload the mission and figure out where he was. I set the game to be as hard as it can be. The terrorists are crack shots and there's plenty to be had. I can play online but I'm still trying to get good. I like being able to play co-op. I can't wait until Wulf comes to town so we can have a LAN party. Maybe I can find another player or two who would want to join us for some anti-terrorist fun.

Ok, the results of the short hair color poll I sent to a very small number of my friends (people I thought might actually reply) came out as follows:
Purple: 37%
Burgundy: 37%
Blue: 26%
Several people voted more than once so I have to consider that as well. Almost everyone who voted burgundy voted purple as a secondary with blue trailing as their third favorite option. I guess that makes purple the winner if I were to devise some form of formula to count secondarys as half votes. Either that, or I could just blatantly pick purple since it's my plumage to begin with. Adrienne voted purple so I should keep that in mind too, since she's my gf and all. Probably ought to count as more than one vote. One and a half maybe. =)Nookie always beats a royal flush.

Ok, I pay exorbitant ammounts of money for cable just so I can get comedy central and cartoon network. Basically. Mostly, I just listen to them while on the computer. One of the two has been bombarding the airwaves with commercials for Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield. Every fifteen minutes, I swear. As such, I finally broke down and got it. I guess the subliminal anti-terrorist capitalism messages finally took hold. In truth, I've wanted to play R6 ever since it first came out back in 98 but never got around to getting it or any of the sequels until now. I've listened to many of my friends talk about how much fun it was and laughed at all their stories of stupid AI and the frustration that ensued. Still... I couldn't resist.
I'm really digging it.

It plays a lot like Infiltration (if you're familiar with that UT mod) and I'm told that Infiltration plays a lot like Counterstrike (another game I never got around to) so if you're interested then by all means download the demo and give it a whirl. I'll be haunting public servers soon enough under as Turbo-Nixon (the mental image alone was worth it) if you care to join me. Frankly, I could use the backup. =)

Sung to the tune of Bethoven's 5th.
GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!
GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS!
GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS! GUNS!
I guess you have to hear it...

Tomorrow my best friend, Patrick, gets married to my other best friend's sister. That should be interesting. A few years from now there might be a bunch of little best friendlings running around getting into trouble. Between Patrick, Lucas, and myself, (assuming nobody moves away) Lindsay is going to go insane wondering why the kid(s) have such horrible manners and habits. Gee... Bad influences? What? If Patrick has a little boy, he'll be a gun fanatic with a passion for used cars and fratwear. Congrats, Patrick and Lindsay. I wish you both the best of luck and love. =)

RAH! abbyshot.com Trenchcoats galore. If you've ever wanted that bad-ass looking coat on your favorite action star of the last few years, go here and check it out. Matrix? They got ya covered. Equillibrium? Yep. Trigun? You betcha! Two flavors to pick from even. =D

I was playing FFXI for a while but I'm getting kinda bored of it. I think I'll just cancel it. I have until tomorrow for the trial to expire. I think. I might try to cancel it tonight just to be on the safe side. Besides, we finally broke down and got cable. Now we've got a lot more chancels to surf through before we come to the realization that there's nothing on. I'm still downloading movies like a madman and read an article in Wired about how to encode my own VCDs. Very interesting. Lucas got bored of it. Too bad. I hope I have better luck. First, I'll have to find inspiration. That's the bitch. About all I've been doing lately is working, playing with Adrienne, and reading Tom Clancy books. Rainbow Six, Sum of All Fears, Cardinal of the Kremlin, and am in the middle of The Hunt For Red October. Great stuff! I forgot how much I like books about war. Oh, we got a new kitten too. He's cute. He's soooo laid back. His name is Dink. More to come.
