Didn't we win a medal in shooting at the Sydney Olympics? Does that mean we're soon to see the qualification rounds for the Australian Shooters to be sent to Athens televised? Or maybe equestrian qualifying rounds?

Seriously, I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Australia didn't win medals at swimming we wouldn't give a crap about it. The qualifying rounds certainly wouldn't be televised. And why? Because it's boring as Hamish & Andy*, that's why! I don't even think there's any real skill involved, you just have to be able to swim fast. I know there's a lot of training involved, but since when was the ability to train lots a skill?

Oh how the nation cried when Thorpy screwed up. But, he was only a little bit over. He didn't even jump in. It was like he was also so incredibly bored he fell asleep and just dropped in.

As a side note, not that I follow swimming or any sport very closely, but I never heard anyone say that the other swimmer guy should drop out so Thorpy could swim the 400m. I only heard the press saying that people were saying that, nobody specifically, just people. Could the press be trying to create controversy... no, they're so nice and wholesome, they couldn't possibly do such a thing. Listen 'people', there were clearly stated rules, Thorpy broke them, bad luck, get over it.

It's just swimming. Look on the bright side, maybe if we don't win as many medals this Olympics we wont be subjected to so much mind-numbingly dull televised swimming. I want to live in that world.

*Who wants to play 'How many weeks 'til Hamish & Andy gets the ax or gets shifted to a crappier timeslot?' I give it 7. I give The L Word 4 weeks, not so much a show for lesbians as soft porn with way too many dull, predictable storylines to hold the attention of the target demographic (i.e. single males).

Go ahead, ask him a question... or offer him sexual favors, he'd like that...
