ShuttleAbalone - From Heirloom Corner, in matching box. Similar to Black Abalone in size and shape, but this one is not quite as thick. It seems as if it would break more easily, but it is still plenty sturdy to tat with. I love this shuttle, it is small, about 2 1/8, and like my other abalone shuttle, it has natural divots in it, it is not perfectly symmetrical like plastic shuttles. This is OK because since it does not have a hook, I can choose which end to hold it on.

It has a clear plastic or lucite hub in the middle for the thread.

Here are the front and back sides - one is a little more swirly than the other.
Here is another shot of the box, so you can see the colors. The box is abalone and mother of pearl inlaid on sterling silver, and the inside of the box is a dark wood, maybe rosewood. It was my paternal grandmother's. It came from Mexico, where abalone and silver are used quite often in gift items. She probably got it while traveling, she was quite a world traveler, as is my dad.
