- Dating sucks. If I were to continue my analogy of it being a game that you only need to win once, I'll use Gauntlet to state my current condition. 'Warrior needs food badly'

Just making sure you were paying attention. In case you haven't noticed, I'm quite fond of the game. I've completely dropped playing a free MMO (dungeons and dragons online, beta) in favor of a game I had to shell out twenty bucks for just to see what it was like. After I did that, I discovered that I could have done a 14 day free trial. Meh. I did that too with a second character to play around with various skills and such. Glad I did too. I managed to get a couple of my buddies into it as well and now we cruise the stars warping in and out of solar systems looking for rowdy fun beating up other starships or making money in the astroid belts. Tons of stuff to do that I haven't even found out about yet. There's just so much out there. I can't speak highly enough about CCP, the company that made the game. First off, they're a company based out of Iceland. That's hawt! In every other MMO I've played, the company puts out a game that works ok and has a playable ammount of content but their support and web page are abismal. You have to look for specialized community sites for forums and articles with good information. You also have to pay for a new expansion pack every 6 months for bug fixes, new content, and other things to keep your interest. This is all in addition to the $50 you pay for the original game and the monthly fee. Then, you have to pick a server and find out later that all your friends play on different servers not only from you, but from each other as well. Not being able to transfer your character gets annoying very quickly. Then, a month or so passes and you realize that you've seen and done everything in the game and you are now bored anyway. Oh well. It was more productive than going out and drinking every night.
Not so with EVE! Their web page is unquestionably the most comprehensive knowledgebase for their game ever. Their forums are very civil, they represent something like half the nations of the world. They give you the game for free to let you try it out. They regularly produce expansions, updates, and additional content. Plus, you download them for free too! There is no camping or grinding for XP. Learning skills is done in real-time. Easy to learn skills take as little as a few minutes. Harder or higher level skills take days, weeks, maybe more. You don't have to be logged in for this. Set the skill you want to be training, shut down your PC and go to bed if you want. Going to work? Set it for that long skill you've been putting off. Going on vacation for a week? No sweat! Plus, you can even check on the status of your training from their web page. How cool is that? I can go on and on but I'll do that some other time.

- I had an uplifting experience the other day. You always see people get what's coming to them in books, songs, tv, and movies, but rarely in real life. When you do see it, it's a beautiful thing. No, I'm not talking about the execution of that gang leader over in Kalifornia this week. I had a pleasant surprise visit by one of my buddies, Tater, this week. He dropped by my shop to take a look and introduce me to his new lady friend. She seemed pretty nice, but I was just finishing up my super sized expresso from the gas station and anyone who has seen me and coffee in action know that I did most of the talking. I don't remember anything I said, but I suspect it had something to do with either guns or video games. In any event, it was a great surprise to see him again and a real treat to meet his romantic interest. It's about time someone discovered him.
I'm so tempted to end this post with a rip from a bad 50's greaser movie but I don't think it would be in very good taste. Aw, who am I kidding? The only good taste I have is in guns and ties so here goes.
"She breaka his heart, I breaka her face. Ungh!" -movie title long forgotten but I promise it's not The Outsiders.
A well meaning line that seldom gets rewarded with "Aw, that's so sweet!"
