1999 Barry Season Wrap UpBarry was the great "stealth team" of 1999. Not as flashy or high scoring as his East counterparts, Barry was on top of the division going into week 14. He started slow, a tie with Peil, a pitiful 16-12 loss to JK and a loss to Stroupe. He broke through in week 4 with a win over Jackson. A 19-6 snoozer with Talbot, an upset of Outlaw and then a win over CZ. Four wins in row and AB was suddenly a force to be reckoned with. The, trouble... four straight games with the leagues top four teams. A tight loss to Best, and then a wild shootout with Bud where Randy Moss and Emmitt Smith dueled on a Monday night. Bud ended up winning 49-47. Wallace won in a blowout. Then some luck. The Mo-ha got a quiet game from St Louis, and AB won a squeaker. In week 12, he scored 44 points, but Peil had 54. Still, he wasn't done yet. The next week, AB won his biggest game of the year 35-32 over JK. He was in first place. A victory over the Mo-ha in week 14, and the dvision was his. A loss, and the season was over. It came down to a Monday night. AB needed two scores from Jacksonville's QBs. They got none. The Mo-ha won and took the division. AB went home for the holidays. |
